Genevieve’s Summer Internship at Nuuly
This summer, CWC Year 2 Fellow Genevieve took her creativity and design skills to Nuuly, where she served as a Creative Intern.

Genevieve became a CWC Fellow in 2022, completing pre-college programs at OTIS College of Art and Design and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Now a sophomore at Northeastern University majoring in design, she continues to build her design skills. The combination of her CWC experiences, academic studies, and natural talent prepared her to thrive in Nuuly’s fast-paced and collaborative environment.

At Nuuly, Genevieve gained a hands-on look at the intersection of fashion, marketing, and digital design. She contributed to projects across multiple channels, including creating assets for web, email, and organic and paid ads. She also developed weekly mood boards, shadowed seven different teams, and attended creative team meetings to learn how ideas evolve into full-scale campaigns.
We asked Genevieve to reflect on her experience. Here’s what she shared:
What are two key things you learned during your internship?
“I learned leadership and confidence skills. Nuuly's atmosphere fostered growth and made me feel like I should ask questions and participate within the team. I also learned a lot of professional and backend skills in figma and photoshop that I wouldn't have gained in college. I have come out with stronger design work and a whole new perspective on how to use these platforms.”

Did the internship shift your perspective in any way?
“Yes, I wasn't sure how I would feel in a corporate environment. But after my time here I've learned a lot of the highs and lows of the workplace and how to navigate different challenges. Plus how the work flows are organized and the distribution of the workload. All this in turn made me a lot more friendly to working in an environment like this. I'm so thankful to have this opportunity so early in my college career.”

Are there any projects you’re especially proud of?
“Yes! my intern project where I worked with two other Nuuly interns Kayla (social) and Staphanie (growth marketing) to create a pop up and giveaway experience to promote the student discount for spring break at different colleges. I worked on promotional materials like web banners, 2 emails, custom stickers, and paid ads. My favorite part of this project though was the photoshoot we had when my fellow interns modeled and I shot, styled, retouched, and then used in my design assets. It was really fulfilling working on this project and having my fingers in the process from beginning to end. I am super proud of my fellow interns and I's presentation to all of URBN as well as our second presentation just too Nuuly.”

What were your favorite parts of the internship experience?
“My favorite part was definitely shadowing and working with the people at Nuuly. Everyone is incredibly nice and willing to teach and share knowledge with me and my fellow creative team intern Kayla. I learned about all different kinds of fields that I didn't even know existed. I also appreciated getting close with the whole intern class, as these will be my peers as I go into the work force. It was amazing to gain friendship with young professionals who share similar goals and aspirations that I have. Including the other CWC intern, Issy! It was so nice to meet her and we instantly got close because of having CWC in common.”
CWC Fellows & URBN interns Genevieve & Issy
Each year, URBN provides CWC Fellows with two internship opportunities. This summer, Genevieve at Nuuly and Isabelle at Anthropologie (read about Issy’s internship here) demonstrated how these experiences can propel students’ fashion careers forward.
Genevieve’s internship strengthened her technical skills, expanded her confidence, and gave her firsthand insight into the fashion industry. We are proud to support underrepresented talent like Genevieve and Isabelle as they take their next steps in the industry.
