CWC Fellow Mathias Exhibits Work at MoMA Education and Research Building
At Creatives Want Change, we believe in supporting our Fellows not just in the classroom or workplace, but wherever their creativity leads them. When opportunities arise that allow our Fellows to share their work, expand their voice, and step into new spaces, we show up with them.
This spring, CWC Year 4 Fellow Mathias Parker presented his artwork as part of the MoMA Teens: Imagined Futures exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art’s Education and Research Building. This milestone marks an exciting moment in Mathias’s creative journey and reflects the level of talent, intention, and growth we aim to cultivate through our programs.
Mathias is currently studying at Parsons School of Design, where he continues to develop his artistic voice across both fashion and fine art. His featured piece, Find Your Way Back, is an acrylic work on paper that explores intuition, identity, and self-trust during times of transition.
Below, Mathias reflects on the experience in his own words.
What inspired the piece Find Your Way Back?
Mathias’s Find Your Way Back
“This piece was created during my first year of college, at the start of a big, exciting journey. It was an intuitive process and served as a reminder to always return to my intuition, to reconnect with my core, even when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. For me, it’s about finding your way back to yourself, trusting your instincts, and grounding yourself as you navigate new experiences and decisions.”
What did it mean to show your work in a space like MoMA?
“This was my second time showing work publicly, but my first in such a gallery-like space. Experiencing such a large turnout and sharing my work taught me the value of vulnerability and listening to others’ interpretations. It’s given me hope and inspiration for the future, encouraging my growth both as an artist and as someone exploring how my creative and fashion pursuits can evolve together.”
What did you take away from this experience?
“Being in a space where people engage with your work in real time is powerful. It reminded me that art is not just about creating, but about connection. Hearing different perspectives helped me see my work in new ways and pushed me to think more deeply about how I communicate through my art.”
Mathias’s work represents the intersection of creativity, reflection, and courage. Showing in a space like MoMA is not just an achievement; it is a signal of what is possible when young creatives are given access, support, and room to grow.
At CWC, we invest in moments like these because they shape confidence, expand networks, and open doors. Whether it is through exhibitions, internships, mentorship, or scholarships, we are committed to supporting our Fellows every step of the way.
When you are a CWC Fellow, your creativity is not only nurtured, but it is seen.
